I recently completed a short documentary on St. Dismas, and the first church built inside a free-standing prison in the United States, the Church of the Good Thief inside the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility at Dannemora, N.Y. I interviewed the prison chaplain, a prison guard and shot much footage inside and outside the magnificent church and gathered many stories about how prisoners built the church from the ground up.
